Before You Sell: The 3 Paint Projects With the Best Resale Return in Atlanta

Apr 24, 2026 • Metro Atlanta

Not every renovation pays you back. Paint is one of the rare exceptions. It's relatively low cost, fast to complete, and consistently one of the highest-return projects before a listing goes live. Here's where to spend that budget for the biggest impact.

1. The front door and entry

Buyers form an opinion before they're through the front door. A fresh, well-chosen front door color (we do these in a durable mirror-gloss finish) paired with clean trim is one of the cheapest ways to lift first impressions in listing photos and in-person showings alike.

2. Whole-home neutral interior repaint

Bold accent walls and personal color choices are wonderful to live with, but they can slow a sale by making buyers picture the work ahead instead of the space itself. A light, warm neutral throughout the main living areas photographs well and helps rooms feel larger and move-in ready.

3. Kitchen cabinets

Dated or worn cabinets are one of the first things buyers mentally price into an offer. A refinish, especially in a popular neutral or soft green tone, is dramatically cheaper than a listing-agent-recommended full remodel, and it removes one of the most common objections buyers raise during a walkthrough.

What to skip

Don't spend on hyper-trendy colors chasing this year's viral shade, and don't repaint surfaces that are already in good, neutral condition. Realtors we work with consistently point to these three categories as the ones that actually move the needle.
